Ala Moana Center Shines with Centerstage Entertainment in March
HONOLULU – This March Ala Moana Center has a lineup of cultural festivals, fashion shows, and musical performances that will put a smile on everyone’s faces. Look for these great “Centertainment” events throughout March at Ala Moana Center:
March 4: At Centerstage from 12 noon to 1 p.m. shoppers will have the chance to greet the reigning Cherry Blossom Festival Queen, Brooke Hasegawa, and her court as they welcome this year’s Cherry Blossom Contestants for the 54th Cherry Blossom Festival.
Later, from 2 to 2:45 p.m., shoppers can get a glimpse of this year’s Miss Hawaii Teen USA Pageant contestants as they greet the crowd at Centerstage.
March 5: Get a glimpse at the talent emerging from Rebecca Stewart Modeling School at their Spring Fashion Show. From 2 to 2:45 p.m. Rebecca Stewart Models will showcase fashions from Ala Moana Center stores.
March 6: Prepare for a rush of rhythm and style as The Steptaculars present a series of tap, jazz and Broadway dance numbers from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m.
March 8: Shoppers will get a taste of Hawaii’s great musical traditions as the Royal Hawaiian Band performs at Centerstage from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
March 11 - 12: From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, and from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, shoppers can experience the cultural practices and traditional art forms of Japan at the 12th Annual Honolulu Festival. Visiting groups from Japan will share with shoppers special music, dance, and cultural displays at Centerstage.
March 18: The Honolulu Broadway Babies, a non-profit organization committed to the disabled, will bring a bit of Broadway pizzazz to Ala Moana’s Centerstage as they perform well-loved stage numbers from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
Also at Centerstage, Jalpak International Hawaii will present a beautiful Hula Performance by Japanese halau Ka Pa Hula O Mahealani from 4 to 5 p.m.
March 19: Calling all teens! See all the hottest styles for Prom ’06 at the Sassy Magazine Fashion Show that is taking over Centerstage from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Get a peek at the latest Prom and Spring Break attire Ala Moana Center has to offer at this “All about you!” event.
March 24: Taking shoppers through a milieu of melodic arrangements, students from the North Canyon High School Choir in Arizona will present a choral performance at Centerstage from 6 to 6:45 p.m.
March 26 – 28: Witness the exchange between young musicians from different cultures as World Projects hosts the 22nd Annual Pacific Basin Music Festival at Ala Moana Center. Featuring groups from Japan, Australia, Singapore, Guam, and the United States, Ala Moana Center shoppers have the opportunity to listen to a world of musical talents.

From 4 to 4:45 p.m. Centerstage will come alive with a band performance by students from Minooka High School in Illinois.
In the evening from 6 to 6:45 p.m., shoppers will hear the distinct music of the Japanese stringed Shamisen at a Performance by NEC Michinoku Matsuri.
March 31: Centerstage will dazzle as the dancers of Hawaii State Ballet perform classical and contemporary ballet pieces for shoppers from 7 to 7:45 p.m.
Continuing: At Centerstage every Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m., shoppers will experience a delightful display of aloha with Ala Moana Center's Keiki Hula Show featuring Halau Na Mamo O Ka‘ala and Kanilau. Performance dates this month are March 5, 12, 19, and 26.
