Ala Moana Center’s Major Retail Expansion Opens on Friday, March 7
New retail wing launches with 17 new stores, including many national
and international brands opening in Hawaii for the first time

HONOLULU –Ala Moana Center today announced the grand opening of the mall’s 300,000 square-foot retail expansion on Friday, March 7 at 9:30 a.m.  Nordstrom’s first full-line department store in Hawaii will debut along with 80,000 square feet of new mall shop space.  The expansion further reinforces the state’s premier shopping and dining destination as the world’s largest open-air mall with an impressive selection of more than 290 retailers set amidst 2.1 million square feet of retail space with annual sales in excess of $1 billion.

“We are extremely proud to introduce a new, bigger, and better, Ala Moana Center,” said Dwight Yoshimura, senior vice president for General Growth Properties Hawaii. “We deeply appreciate the support that we have received from the local community who have been patiently awaiting the opening of this new addition to our center.”

Many of the new retailers set to join the mall include a number of brand-name national, international and local retailers, some of which will welcome their first Hawaii concept. These tenants include well-known names such as Ash & Diamonds, Bare Escentuals, Blue Hawaii Lifestyle, Design Within Reach, J. Crew-on-the-Island, Janie & Jack, The Kiss, Le Grand Marquet, lululemon athletica, Miki House, Philip Rickard Factory Showroom, Ponte Vecchio Hotta and Vera Bradley.

“We work hard to establish Ala Moana Center as more than just an amazing destination to shop and dine, but also a fun, vibrant place where people can come together and enjoy the company of family and friends,” Yoshimura said. “Ala Moana Center is a great gathering place for locals and visitors alike to enjoy our islands’ unique culture and environment.”

With Ala Moana Center’s new retail wing in place, the mall offers local residents and visitors more than 290 stores – including more than 40 retailers found only in Hawaii, close to 100 national brands, as well as the state’s largest selection of luxury retailers. In addition, there are also more than 70 dining options and four major department stores; Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Sears and Nordstrom.
