Ala Moana Center Expansion Update (7-19)
Kona Street closed for Ewa-bound traffic July 25 through August 7; Kona Street ramp to mall level closed July 25 through Aug. 18.
HONOLULU, HI – Drivers are being advised that the Kona Street Ewa-bound lane, between Ke’eaumoku Street and the Ala Moana Pacific Center building, will be temporarily closed to traffic from July 25 through August 7. The Diamond Head-bound lane remains open for vehicular traffic during this time.
Also closed beginning July 25 is the Kona Street ramp leading to Ala Moana Center’s Mall Level. The ramp will remain closed through August 18. For shoppers convenience this ramp will remain open for mall traffic between the Mall and Third Levels at all times. Maps of the affected areas are attached (Phase 1 shows the closures through August 7; Phase 2 shows closures through August 18).
All drivers are being encouraged to use alternate entrances to Ala Moana Center via Ala Moana Boulevard, Piikoi Street, or Atkinson Drive. Access via the Ke’eaumoku Street ramp into the shopping center Mall Level from Ke’eaumoku and Kapiolani Boulevard will remain open during this time.
The temporary closure is required as part of the ongoing construction for the Ala Moana Center expansion, creating a new third-level retail wing leading to the new Nordstrom anchor store all slated to open Spring 2008.
Closure dates are subject to change. For the most up-to-date information on the ongoing expansion project, including general access maps, photos, and press releases, visit www.AlaMoanaCenter.com/expansion.
