Louis Vuitton Re-Opens Its Newly Renovated
Store at Ala Moana Center
HONOLULU, Hawaii – On Friday, October 21st Louis Vuitton, the world’s leading luxury brand, re-opened its newly renovated store at Ala Moana Center. The new store triple in size from its previous location, will be the brand’s second largest store in North America, following Louis Vuitton Fifth Avenue, which opened in February 2004. Louis Vuitton currently has 107 stores in North America.
Celebrity guests in attendance included Bai Ling, dressed in Louis Vuitton, Roger Ebert and Byung- Heon Lee.
In celebration of the expansion and renovation of Louis Vuitton Ala Moana an exclusive shopping event was held on Friday, October 21st. That same evening special guests were invited to a cocktail reception catered by Indigo at the new store. Guests were then whisked away by private chauffeured cars to the historical Kakaako Pump Station for a dinner menu designed and prepared by Chef Alan Wong, live entertainment by violinist, Dr. Draw from Canada and two illusionists from Paris, both brought to Hawaii for this event.
Louis Vuitton, in conjunction with the Hawaii Historic Foundation, Hawaii Community Development Authority and the Hawaii Architectural Society have joined hands in restoring integrity and character into the historic Pump Station built by OG Traphagen in the 1900s.
For the past 60 years this architectural jewel that is listed on the State and National Register of historic Places has laid derelict, abandoned after modern technology made its original intent technically obsolete. Teams of restoration specialists demolished non-historic appendages, and used picks and brushes to remove walls of paint without damaging the original stone.
The present effect is a revitalization most residents have never seen. Louis Vuitton continues to partner with their local communities and further their involvement with philanthropic endeavors, and has left Hawaii with a polished jewel for generations to enjoy.
Louis Vuitton is a component of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, a unique collection of prestigious luxury goods and world-famous brand names in the fields of luggage and leather goods, beauty products, fashion and champagnes, wines and cognacs.
