Ala Moana Center Rings in the New Year with
the Shopping Tradition of Fukubukuro

HONOLULU –Ala Moana Center is helping shoppers kick off 2007 with Fukubukuro, a Japanese tradition put on by retailers to reward their customers in the New Year.  On Monday, January 1, 2007, a variety of Ala Moana Center stores will take part in this unique custom by offering “happy grab bags” featuring unique products at a discount of at least 50 percent off the regular retail price.

Be sure to get down to Ala Moana Center early on New Years Day – only a limited number of Fukubukuro bags are for sale and they are only available for the one day. Each retailer will offer a different bag which may contain a single product, or a variety of products from their store. Although shoppers will not know what is in the bag until they purchase it, the contents are guaranteed to be worth at least double the price they paid.

Fukubukuro has long been a popular tradition at Ala Moana Center, and this year even more stores will be taking part. The following retailers will be offering a Fukubukuro bag:
