Ala Moana Center Celebrates 2006 with Shopping and
Entertainment Events in January

HONOLULU – Ala Moana Center is welcoming 2006 with a fun Fukubukuro “happy grab bag” event on New Years Day, and a array of great community events throughout the entire month.  Shoppers will enjoy great post-holiday savings as well as Centerstage entertainment at these Ala Moana Center events:

January 1:  The Japanese concept of Fukubukuro will light up New Year’s Day at Ala Moana Center.  Shoppers will find Fukubukuro, or “happy grab bags,” featuring unique products for at least 50 percent off of normal retail price at more than 25 stores.  Ala Moana Center Fukubukuro bags are limited and are only available New Year’s Day.  For a list of participating stores, please contact Customer Service at 955-9517.

January 8:  In celebration of the Rockstar Games and International Bodyboarding Association world tour, Town & Country Surf presents “Go Big.”  From noon – 2 p.m. T&C Surf will be at Centerstage giving away a bodyboard every 5 minutes, tossing tons of fins, leashes, boardbags and more to the crowd! “Go Big” also features a special autograph session.  For more information call 973-5199.

January 11:  Shoppers will get a taste of Hawaii’s great musical traditions as the Royal Hawaiian Band performs at Centerstage from 2 - 2:45 p.m.

January 14:  From 12 – 12:45 p.m. shoppers can enjoy the melodies of vocalist and ukulele performer Jomel Sumira as she performs music from her debut CD “One Magic Moment.” An autograph session with Sumira will follow.  

Continuing: At Centerstage every Sunday from 10 – 11 a.m., shoppers will experience a delightful display of aloha with Ala Moana Center's weekly Keiki Hula Show featuring Halau Na Mamo O Ka'ala and Kanilau.  Performance dates this month are January 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.
