ALA MOANA CENTER TO PRESENT SECOND ANNUAL “SHOP A LE‘A” SPRING SHOPPING FESTIVAL
More than 150 in-store events, lifestyle seminars and shopping specials
to take place March 23-29, 2009
Ala Moana Center, one of the world’s largest outdoor shopping centers and Hawai‘i’s premier shopping destination, will host Honolulu's second annual weeklong spring fashion and shopping festival
March 23-29, 2009. The event, named Shop a Le‘a, continues in its second year to celebrate the very best in global brands and merchandise.
Shop a Le‘a will present shopping enthusiasts from all over Hawai‘i and the Pacific with a myriad of experiences in fashion, health and beauty, active lifestyle, home décor, travel, and cuisine. Included as part of the event’s lineup are retailer presented fashion shows, trunk shows, Hawai‘i exclusive products, lifestyle seminars and events at Centerstage, cuisine demonstrations, a center-wide gift-with-purchase incentive, mall-wide shopping and dining offers from the Center’s 290 merchants, a grand prize shopping vacation for two to Las Vegas, and much more!
The highlight of the 2009 event will be Ala Moana Center’s “Celebration of Luxury” VIP shopping event on Saturday, March 28, where the Center’s 30-plus luxury retailers showcase their brands to customers via product and artisan demonstrations, trunk shows, exclusive products, and more.
“We are thrilled to once again present Hawai‘i’s signature spring shopping festival, Shop a Le‘a,” said Sharon James, regional vice president of marketing for General Growth. “We encourage shopping and travel enthusiasts from around the globe to visit Ala Moana Center during the festivities and experience our world-class retailers and the great lineup of activities we’ve created.”
For shopping aficionados and fashionistas who wish to attend the Shop a Le’a festivities, Ala Moana Center plans to launch a variety of Shop a Le‘a hotel packages with a number of Waikiki hotel partners.
The event’s name, Shop a Le‘a, combines “shop” with the Hawaiian word “le‘a,” which means “to delight or take pleasure in.” The event’s name is artistically translated to mean “The Joy of Shopping.”
More than 150 different Shop a Le‘a events and sales promotions are expected to take place at participating stores and select venues center-wide.
Most of the Shop a Le’a events are free and open to the public with the exception of select functions that require a special invitation. Event information is subject to change without notice.
