In collaboration with POW! WOW! Hawaii, we’re excited to welcome Hawaiian artist Aaron Kai to Ala Moana Center as he live-paints our Aloha Sign mural, Nalu ma Lēʻahi (Waves at Diamond Head), October 20–24. Inspired by Honolulu’s natural beauty, waterways and cultural history, the mural celebrates the place we call home.

Join us on October 24 for a special meet-and-greet with Kai following the mural’s completion. The first 100 attendees will receive a complimentary tote bag featuring the new design.

Since its installation in 2023, our 28-foot-wide Aloha Sign has become a favorite photo spot and a canvas for Hawai‘i’s local talent. Our rotating mural series has featured artists Punky Aloha, Kris Goto and Kate Wadsworth, and we’re proud to continue this tradition with Kai’s latest creation.

About Aaron Kai
Hailing from the Big Island of Hawai’i, Aaron Kai’s artistic creations are rooted in Hilo Hamakua surf culture – as well as his fascination with Hawaiian tradition and the rich history of his ancestors. His iconic “wavy” art, first doodled between school classes, has been featured in murals and exhibitions around the world. Kai’s signature “wave design” is representative of the flow of nature and family, intertwining together in perfect harmony.
